EDC362 Ga         PRE-INTERNSHIP SEMINAR

On behalf of my colleagues, I welcome you all to this course.  This is EDC362Gd – Pre-Internship Seminar which is commonly called the On-Campus Teaching Practice (OCTP).  It is one of the General Professional Development courses you are mandated to take to prepare you for the teaching profession.

We welcome you all to the University of Education, Winneba Online Moodle Learning Management System (LMS).  We are continuing the lessons here in a hybrid model, materials for study shall be presented here and we shall sometimes  employ the use of WhatsApp for the discussions as well as the LMS.

Course Description

The primary aim of the internship is to encourage student teachers to get a sense of what the teaching profession is all about. The Pre-Internship course is designed to provide the student teacher with the practical knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes needed in classroom teaching and the environment.  It prepares the student-teacher for the classroom teaching experience.  Each student teacher is taught to prepare teaching philosophy (his/her beliefs about teaching and learning), lesson notes, and expected to demonstrate teaching before his/her peers for critique.  The student-teacher is also taken through effective communication and questioning skills, class management procedures and how to prepare teaching portfolios. Finally, the course equips the student teacher with the relationship that must exist between the student teacher and his/her mentor and the expected duties.

Lectures  will be on every Wednesday between 12.30 pm and 3.30 pm. You can click this link for the course outline.  You are all welcome.
