Dear Learner: Welcome to EHS 365 “Managerial Economics and Entrepreneurship" course. This three credit hour
course will be delivered to you in a hybrid mode -that is some portions
of the course will be available on this online platform where you can
access at any time; other portions will be delivered in a face-to-face
setting. I expect that you read all materials, participate in all
activities such as forum discussions; contribute to journals and
collaboratively build content using wikis on online. We will use most of
our normal face-to-face class meetings to discuss and clarify issues
that arise from our readings and participation in online activities. Course Description The
course accordingly is concerned with
both theory and practice: the theory serves to sharpen analytical skills in a
rigorous microeconomics perspective, and the practice will give experience in
the application of principles and techniques. This course also introduces students
to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship which make them innovative, risk lovers
and able to convert problems and opportunities into marketable products:
Course Objective(s)
The course
aims to develop students’ capacity to analyze the economic environment in which
business entities operate and understand how managerial decisions can vary
under different constraints that each economic environment places on a
manager’s pursuit of its goals, focusing on analyzing the functioning of
markets and the economic behavior of firms and other economic agents.
It is intended to help students better recognize how to apply modern principles and methods of microeconomics to real-world business problems in different contexts and eventually better deal with problems of practical relevance to managers.
